Jerry Robinson, did you teach in this video that Christians should not be interested in politics, and should not get involved in politics? I heard you say that we should not be misled by the “false choice between globalism and nationalism,” and I thought I heard you advise that we not listen to the news (but read the Good News of the Bible instead), and I thought I heard you say that we should give up our role as citizen rulers of the USA (who rule by electing and influencing our representatives in government) and instead should focus on the business of the Kingdom of God and of the Heavenly King of the Universe. So, did I catch the meaning you were aiming to get across? Do you think we should even vote in elections? Perhaps I misunderstood.
Hi Tom! I was at one time VERY confused about the issues you just raised. Reframing your questions may provide clarity and a fresh perspective. i.e.) Was Jesus interested in worldly politics or influencing the governments of men? Was Jesus immersed in the news of his time that may have seemed important one moment and irrelevant the next? If they had elections in His day, would Jesus have spent one iota of precious time and energy trying to “Make Rome Great Again?”, or would he redeem the time w/ laser-like focus on advancing the Father’s Kingdom?
I say that w/ a spirit of humility, knowing that addressing those types of questions head-on has removed roadblocks in my own faith.
Thanks very much for such an insightful word.
A kingdom , Democracy, etc. We must stand up and speak up for righteousness and justice for our King Jesus or our neighbors
