In this brief video excerpt, Bible teacher/researcher Jerry Robinson explains the meaning of the word “aión” and discusses what we can learn about it from the New Testament writings.

VIDEO: The Mystery of the “Present Evil Age”

This video is an excerpt from our full-length teaching entitled: The Mystery of the Kingdom.

There are two primary Greek words used for the English word “world” in the New Testament. One word translated as the word “world” is “aión.” This word literally means a space of time, an age. This word “aión” appears 125 times in the New Testament.

The other word translated as is “kosmos,” which refers to an “ordered system” (like the universe, creation.)

However, “aión” means an age of time.

The Bible speaks of a few different “ages” of time.

These include:

“ages past” (Ephesians 3:9)

present evil age (Galatians 1:4)

“the age to come” (Matthew 12:32)

It is the mystery concerning these ages that was entrusted by God in Christ to the apostles.

Therefore, if our understanding of the Kingdom of God is not rooted and grounded in Apostolic doctrine, we are prone to spiritual deception.

Consider Mark 4:11… “But when He [Jesus] was alone, those around Him with the twelve [Apostles] asked Him about the parable. And He said to them, “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables”

Our adversary, Satan, wants to specifically attack our understanding of the Kingdom. (See Matthew 13:19)

Who was the true understanding of the Kingdom given to?

The Apostles.

And they write about these mysteries in their epistles.

May we ever seek to be rooted in the true Apostolic doctrine in “this present evil age.” (Galatians 1:4)
